BERRY ELMER BEVENS

Mr. Berry Elmer Bevens, age 76, of Bonifay, Florida passed away January 13, 2025, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, Florida. He was born July 14, 1948. Elmer was preceded in death by his father, William ‘Billy’ Bevens, his mother, Pearlie Jewel Riley Padgett, his sister and brother-in-law, Sylvia and Don Williams, his father-in-law, Robert Harris and his mother-in-law, Emma Lorene Harris.

Elmer was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, leaving a legacy of love and cherished memories. Elmer married the love of his life on May 25, 1968, and together they shared 56 and a half wonderful years of marriage, a testament to their enduring bond and commitment.

Elmer spent his entire life in construction, dedicating himself to hard work and providing for his family, who were his greatest joy and source of pride. He treasured boat rides, the loyal companionship of his beloved dogs, Sophie and Bouncer, and moments spent with his loved ones.

He found joy in life’s simple pleasures—watching wrestling, staying tuned into Fox News, and passionately supporting Donald Trump. Trips to the mountains were among his favorite getaways, and he never missed the opportunity to indulge in candy bars and junk food.

Elmer’s warmth, humor, and unwavering devotion to those he cared about will forever be remembered. His life was a beautiful example of love, hard work, and finding happiness in the little things.

Mr. Bevens is survived by his wife of 56½ years, Jean Harris Bevens of Bonifay, FL; two daughters, Terri Logan and husband Andy and Marsha Revell and husband Shawn; two grandsons, Casey Newcomb and Dylan Logan; three granddaughters, Haley Logan, Sydney Revell, and Emma Revell; his honorary son, Tony Sowell; several special nieces and nephews.

He will be deeply missed but will always remain in the hearts of those who loved him.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM Thursday, January 16, 2025, in the Peel Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Harris Chapel Church Cemetery with Peel Funeral Home and Bonifay Crematory in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:30 to 2:30 PM Thursday at Peel Funeral Home.
