Mrs. Deborah ‘Debbie’ DeYoung Helms, age 71, of Bonifay, Florida passed away May 14, 2023, at her home. She was born October 10, 1951, in Parsons, Tennessee, to the late William F. DeYoung and Mae B. Zavesky DeYoung. In addition to her parents, Debbie was preceded in death by her father-in-law, H.L. Helms, mother-in-law, Edna E. Helms, and brother-in-law, Ricky Carter.
Debbie is survived by her husband of 54 years, Dan Helms of Bonifay, FL; three children, Kathrine Lee and husband Bim of Palm City, FL, Danny Helms of Shreveport, LA, and Joan Luafutu and husband Watts of Belton, TX; five grandchildren, Justin, Carly, Bret, Nikko, and Malia; four great grandchildren, Mason, Mariella, Cheyenne, and J.W., one sister, Marsha Sirmons of Mobile, AL; two sisters-in-laws, Betty Nelson and husband Wayne Nelson of Chipley, FL and Alice Carter of Chipley, FL; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Thursday, May 18, 2023, at West Bonifay Baptist Church with Pastor Al Leach officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery with Peel Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 9:00 to 10:00 AM at West Bonifay Baptist Church.
