Mr. Jerry Howard Owen, age 82, of Dahlonega, Georgia passed away September 30, 2024, at his home. He was born June 23, 1942, in Chipley, Florida to the late Bedie Owen and Oma Gainey Owen.
Jerry was a beloved member of the Dahlonega Methodist Church. He was known for his avid love of reading, passion for gardening, and adventurous spirit. Jerry's love for travel took him across the globe, visiting countries like Australia, New Zealand, and Canada, as well as driving twice to Alaska. He explored every corner of the United States, embracing the beauty and diversity it offered. Jerry's adventurous spirit and love of nature left an indelible mark on those who knew him. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Mr. Owen is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Norma Jean Brock Owen of Dahlonega, GA; one son, Jim Owen and wife April of Gainesville, GA; one daughter, Melanie Owen of Dahlonega, GA; two grandchildren, Samantha Leach and husband Alex and Stephen Owen; one sister, Carma Lee Register and husband Harold of Chipley, FL; several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, October 4, 2024, in the Piney Grove Cemetery in Chipley, Florida with Peel Funeral Home and Bonifay Crematory in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 6-7 PM Thursday, October 3, 2024, at Peel Funeral Home.
