TERI MICHELLE SAVAGE WICKER

Updated: Nov 14, 2023

Ms. Teri Michelle Savage Wicker, age 62, of Caryville, Florida passed away on October 31, 2023, at Ascension Sacred Heart Bay Medical Center in Panama City, Florida. She was born March 7, 1961. Teri was preceded in death by her mother, Donnie Kee Harrison Land, her father, Jimmy Savage, and one brother, Dale Savage.

To say that Teri was one of a kind, could be cliché, but it was the absolute truth. Growing up in the small town of Vernon Teri made a place to stand out from the crowd. She was outgoing and had a great personality. Coming up in her school years, she was known for her exceptional gift of playing sports. Any sport, it didn’t matter, she was a natural, and she excelled at them all. Her children have gotten to read all the articles about their mother’s time as an athlete who represented her hometown so well. After school, she really found her niche in the food service industry working at KC’s. She is credited with naming the famous “Vernon Burnin’ Burger,” which has been a crowd favorite from the time it was created, and even now. Her coworkers will tell you what a joy it was to work with her, and that they knew every time they clocked in, they were going to serve a lot of food, and have a great time doing it! Teri kept them all in stitches in that kitchen with her sense of humor. She loved people. She was a very sentimental mama and kept everything. Birthday cards, newspaper articles, pictures, etc. She never forgot the birthdays or anniversaries of her children and grandchildren. Her children fondly remember that she always had them at every doctor’s and dentist appointment. Her favorite role in life would probably be grandma. She loved her grandchildren with everything she had. She knew how to take a little and make it count. In the last several years she really learned that it isn’t how much the gift cost, or how much is in the bank account, that matters, but showing up for people. Whether it was riding around town with a friend, just to see what was going on, or a grandchild's birthday party. Being present, is the present. That is one of the greatest lessons she will leave behind for her family and friends.

Teri is survived by one daughter, Ashley Zurica of Caryville, FL; two sons, Derek Wicker and Chelsea of Panama City, FL and Dalton Wicker and Alysen of Kinsey, AL; eight grandchildren, Jade, Payten, Jerse, Gracie, Browning, Tinlee, Brigham, and Wrangler.

Memorialization will be by cremation with Peel Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. A celebration of life service will be held on Sunday, November 26, 2023, at Holmes Valley Community Church in Vernon, Florida. There will be a viewing from 4:00 p.m.- 5:00 p.m. with the celebration of life beginning at 5:00 p.m. with Pastor Cody Boyett officiating.
